Elisabeth van den IJssel, daughter of Hubertus van den IJssel and Maria Mooren. She was born 1916 in Alphen and died 1955 in Rotterdam. She married Johannes Cornelis Janmaat in 1946

Map Section Waddinxveen in the 17th Century
This section is from a map dated 1657 and it shows the land then owned by Jan Adriaenz Janmaet. The large bend shown in the bottom half of the map is called the "Grote Nes" (also: Nesse, Es). Between 1893 and 1905 this bend disappeared when the river the Gouwe was "straightened" between here and the city of Gouda in the South. Photo Waddinxveen - "Het Land van Janmaat" (17th Century)
This photo was taken October 2005 from the intersection of the Winterdijk and the Molenvliet looking in a south-westerly direction. If you look carefully you can just see (slightly to the right of centre) the church-tower of the Sint Victor Church. On the Google map below you will find this church at the northerly end of the Sint Victorstraat where it comes off the Zuidkade.
The village of Alphen (now Alphen a/d Rijn) in about 1700 as seen from the River Rhine.
On the right hand side of this picture you can see some houses. This is where "Opa Janmaat", or Cornelis Luit Pietersen Janmaat (1880-1959) used to live during the years 1920-1957.
